Building Freedom



Writing a book about your principles and your truth is cool because you can always go back to it to hit the reset button when you get off track.



2018 has taught me that even the most logical, type A, and analytical people can feel free and spontaneous. It’s also taught me that no matter how much I try to plan what I want in life or the career path I want to go down, life changes for the better or worse (depending on how you choose to perceive it, because whether you look at the glass half empty or half full, you’re correct).



In his ESPY speech just over a month before his death, Jimmy V said, "To me, there are three things everyone should do every day. Number one is laugh. Number two is think -- spend some time in thought. Number three, you should have your emotions move you to tears. If you laugh, think and cry, that's a heck of a day.”



Unfortunately, being the workaholic I am, I have been inventing things to do all week. That is, I have been finding small, insignificant, meaningless things to work on. I have been finding "busy work." For instance:



Gangster Vegan will likely never rank anywhere near the top for these keywords, perhaps not even the top 20 pages. It's because these are generic keywords. But guess what? If you type in "gangster vegan," you'll find them. In fact, they are the only result you'll see for almost 10 pages. It's because this is a specific keyword.



Poke the Box by Seth Godin is 95 pages. Crossing the Chasm by Geoffrey Moore is 227 pages. Both are huge hits. Mark Manson writes blog posts that take 40 minutes to read. Seth Godin writes blog posts that take one minute to read. Both have millions of readers.



I'm currently basking in a lovely buzz on the top floor of Margaritaville. I've had 15 pieces of pizza in the last 4 days ... (insert dorky drawing of a weird face here). Yikes. I worked on my website for another 3 hours today. Then I realized, all of a sudden, that I have over half of it done. Wow. I'm looking at the sand meeting the sea right now ... such a beautiful contrast of colors.
