How Coffee Can Actually Make You More Tired (Video)
People are loading up on coffee but are constantly tired. Why?
People are loading up on coffee but are constantly tired.
Why?
Well, the average American drinks 3 cups of coffee per day, and each of those cups is, on average, 9 ounces.
That's about 320 mg of caffeine per day.
The half-life of caffeine is about 6 hours.
Many people are drinking coffee all throughout the day, but to simplify the math, let's say they drink it all at 10 AM.
If you have 320 mg of caffeine at 10 AM, then 6 hours laters (4 PM), you'll still have 160 mg of caffeine buzzing around in your system.
6 additional hours later, at 10 PM (when we should be going to bed), there is still 80 mg of caffeine buzzing around in your system.
6 more hours... at 4 AM, way past the middle of the night, you still have 40 mg of caffeine buzzing around...
And because of all that caffeine in your system, your body is in deep sleep for less time and the quality of your sleep is poorer than it would be without the excess caffeine.
So, you wake up feeling restless, which makes you want to throw down even more caffeine, and this vicious cycle continues day after day.
Are you a coffee drinker? How much do you have?
