The other day, I went to start my car but it wouldn't start. I kept on turning the key, as far as it would go, pushing it to it's furthest point and holding it there for long periods of time, but it just would not start. I called AAA and they sent out a man to help me get it started. As it turns out, the battery was dead and it needed to be replaced. He told me they usually last 3 to 5 years and it had been 4. The new battery was inserted in under 5 minutes and all of a sudden, my car started better and faster than ever with a loud roar.
It's the same principle in life; Sometimes we're stuck in a rut. It's tough to jump out of bed in the morning. We don't live with the same excitement that we used to. We've had some bad breaks and all we want to do is retreat further into ourselves. We're pushing ourselves hard but not seeing any results. When we keep pushing, we grow weary.
Does your battery need to be replaced?
Are you due to set some new, fresh goals?
Is it time for you to take a new action, make a new decision, dream a new and more inspiring dream?
All through the day, declare victory over your life: "Today is a new day, today is going to be a great day. I've got a fresh start, a smile on my face, a spring in my step."
Take that momentum and go write down some new short and long term goals for your life. Set goals that make you want to jump out of bed in the morning with excitement, ambition and a lust for life. Set goals so big and so inspiring that they provide a sort of gravitational pull that wills you closer to your goals each and every day. No need for pushing.
Forget the past, it's a place of reference, not residence. Replace that battery with a new, more powerful one and you'll live with more passion than ever before!
