“Success does not lead to happiness; instead, happiness leads to success.” ―Chade-Meng Tan
Yes, there is a lot to learn, there is a ton to achieve, and there is an endless amount of room for growth. But that doesn’t mean we can’t be happy right now.
Don’t fall prey to the trap “I’ll be happy when I get/do ______.”
Years ago, I was waiting to be happy. I thought “I’ll be happy when I get this Porsche.”Here are my thoughts on that now: fuck that!I realized I would probably be happy for all of five minutes anyway if I went and bought it, and I would soon return to my previous level of happiness. It might sound cheesy, but if we can appreciate and notice the things we already have, the people in our lives, the things we have gone through, the little things in our day, the opportunity we have, the breathe that fills our lungs, the adventure in a smile, then we can live joyfully today . No need to wait. Let’s meditate on these things, and notice the joy in them.
