As a Man Thinketh is a self-help book by James Allen that was published over 100 years ago back in 1903.
This book is only 20 pages, yet that is not indicative of the sheer amount and superior quality of knowledge you can extract from this book, nor does it mean that this is an easy read. The language is tough. This is one of the most powerful books I've read in quite some time. I would say that it is as powerful, if not more so, than Tony Robbins' Awaken the Giant Within (the book that changed my life), which is over 400 pages.
Here were my top 3 takeaways:
- We are where we are in life by the law of our being; the thoughts built into our character have brought us there. We did not land there by chance, rather it is the result of our law of being which never fails.
- Thoughts and character are one. Our lives will always be found to be harmonious with our inner state.
- We cannot choose our circumstances, but we may always choose our thoughts, which indirectly shape our circumstances.
Not only is this book only 20 pages, but it's just $2.49 on Amazon, so why not take a flier on it?My rating for this book: 5/5
"The world is your kaleidoscope, and the varying combinations of colors, which at every succeeding moment it presents to you are the exquisitely adjusted pictures of your ever-moving thoughts."
