Presence

9/12/25 – 10/7/25 · Asia, Fall 2025

I'm riding my motorbike up a gently ascending, gently winding mountain road, into the big setting sun, my friend riding behind. It feels like slow motion. Space Song comes on.

I think: You are exactly where you are supposed to be.

Then I think, no.

You are exactly where you are.

Let it all go. Life will have its way with you. The ocean can teach you this.added 12 months laterThe key is in working with and - you have to earn this part - directing the flow. And directing the flow to an extent, under certain laws.We are helpless in the ocean of life. We can resist for only so long. Ultimately, the current will take you where it will. There is no avoiding this destiny. We can grip the wheel of life tightly. Will it this way or that. And certainly, there is a time and place for taking the wheel of your life, many times when it is useful to do so. Even this is more about working with the current - with the flow - rather than resisting it. Resistance will only make you tired, weak, and ridden with disease. Literal arthritis by gripping too tightly. A tense relationship with life doesn’t just cause disease. It is dis-ease. Resistance is dis-ease, and it is a futile effort. Ultimately, life will take us where it will. And there is only so much we can do about it. Best to let go. Let it all go. Don’t be attached (to outcome, to this way or that). There is no telling where life will take you. And that’s the joy - the wonder - of it. Might as well relax and enjoy the beautiful, perfect, cosmic, divine ride that is Your Life. > Welcome to your life > There's no turning back https://open.spotify.com/track/4RvWPyQ5RL0ao9LPZeSouE?si=faca80f91beb4fd7

The way the sun shines just after the clouds pass. The added 12 months laterfirst lightfirst light that reaches after the clouds. How often do we slow down enough to appreciate that? How often do we appreciate the moment enough to notice that? The way the sun shines just after the clouds pass - can be a metaphor too.
  3. Unconditional love for the moment. “I love _____.” The way most people love is with attachment; they’d be sad if it was gone. There is no attachment in the ultimate form of love. The truest vibration of love in this universe Is unconditional love of this moment.

You are Love. Love is All. All is One. You are All. All is One. You are One with All. You are One with Love. We are All Love. We are All One. You = All (Yes, All the marvels of creation are within you - in fact, It Is You) You = Love added 9/2/26 · 11 months later Mathematical congruence
  5. Everything in its time. Life reveals all at the right time. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show experience.
  6. Maturing is realizing there is nothing to worry about.
Patrick: curious what this means to you.
Me: Everything is taken care of. The world/universe/life is in perfect balance. Everything in its time. Life reveals everything at the right time. (You can) Sit back, relax, and enjoy the experience. Put another way: what you need will appear in the moment you need it. Trust. What’s there to worry about? And so in the sense of maturing, I’m saying that if you’re actually taking the lessons life gives you, you learn with those lessons over “time” that there really isn’t much to worry about. Because you trust All. Because you learn that it would be foolish to do anything but trust All that Is.

I am in a sort of training right now. Taking in all I can. Seeing as many perspectives as I can. To take with me through the rest of my life on Earth. To widen/open the aperture as much as is possible. So that it may color and light all my experiences the rest of my days. This is perhaps what it means to “live a colorful life.” To widen the aperture means more light is allowed in, which means more color, which means more vivid experiences. More light, more color, more life. May the rest of my days be lit with this beautiful spectrum. Thank you. Bangkok, Sept 18 2025 Onward to Chiang Maiadded 9/2/26 · 11 months later I don't see travel as a reward (for putting in 40+ years of work and then traveling in your 60s). I see travel as education for life. As a nice side effect, travel will make you rich.
  8. Presence I have felt presence. I have lost presence. To feel the loss of presence makes you truly appreciate presence once you come back to it. “Ah, I’m here” - and a literal breath of air. To be present in your own experience - what a marvelous thing / time / experience. Why not *thing*? The 10,000 things. Like it’s something for you to grasp. Not the true nature of the universe. The true nature is not lots of different things - the 10,000 things are labels for us to try to put life into a box, to grasp it, so as to satisfy the ego mind. The true nature is not of separate definable things, but of One undefinable infinite divinity. It is wordless - there are no words, no labels, no-thing(s) you can place on It as a label. It is One Divine Conscious Source that permeates All, that Is All. Why not *time*? Time is just one of the 10,000 things. That’s to say, a thing we made up to put a label to It to satisfy our ego's neediness for understanding, as all the 10,000 things are. Flying over Bangkok

Living out of a suitcase is most fun when you’re in your 20s/early 30s Climbing those stairs is most fun in your 20s/early 30s Etc In other words, live to the max - today - while you still can.
  13. Don’t try to grasp it, enjoy it (Ironic that me writing this thought down is a certain grasping, trying to bottle up and capture an insight) Nothing can be grasped anyway. Not the nature of life. Nothing can be “had” or “owned.”added 1/6/26 · 4 months later We’ve invented the camera as a way to sort of capture the moment. Which is pretty crazy to think that we have a technology capable of that when never before in human history could you capture a moment and look back on it years later. But yeah you can try to capture the sunset on your phone camera. But nothing compares to just Being with It. That is, in grasping for It, you cease to enjoy It. And what’s It for if you’re not enjoying It?
  14. You know when the right timing is for everything. Deep down you know. Because deep down you have the divine life force within you. In fact - not even deep down - the divine life force is all throughout you. It Is you. You are It.
  15. No need to remember anything Because we are everything It is literally all within us We are the all-added 11 months laterI'm not 100% sure I resonate with this word at this time, but as I was just grasping (it cannot be grasped) the truth of Life, this was a word that kept coming to me, and I don't think it's totally off.pervading truth of consciousness And within that consciousness is the ancient memory of All that came before us and All that Is All you need to recall It is to return to the sourceadded 1/8/26 · 4 months later And to return to source, be still.
  16. You gain control of your thoughts by letting go of themadded 9/2/26 · 11 months later This is meditation. I failed at meditation for many years. I tried every guided meditation. Every breathing exercise. I'd say yeah I need to meditate I'm gonna do it! I'd do it for a few weeks and inevitably it wouldn't stick. Last year, I found a small group in my town that meets up on Tuesday evenings for tea ceremony. Together, we sit on the floor, criss-cross-applesauce, eyes closed, for about 90 minutes, over 7 rounds of tea. No guide. Just you and your thoughts. And that's when the magic happened for me. There's nothing I'm supposed to be thinking or not thinking about. "If your mind wanders just bring it back to the breath!" None of that. Not even an intention to think about a particular thing. No special type of breathing I'm supposed to be doing. Nothing. I just sit there, And I welcome What Is Whatever Is Whatever presents itself I welcome It Without trying to whisk it away And so Inevitably The thing I really ought to think about Presents Itself When It Is ready Maybe at minute 32 of the sit Whenever It Is I welcome It in Here, have a seat, I tell It I sit with It I let It talk And critically, It talks; I listen I let It get all Its energy out Let It run around and bounce off the walls of my mind, if It so pleases Then when It has fully run Its course When It has said everything It has to say - usually it takes about 7 minutes or so, that's all I say OK Thank you for sharing (seriously, thank It for sharing - It's giving you useful information) I see where you're coming from And thank you for being here, for coming all this way to share this with me Now here's how we're going to proceed That's It And in that process, what seemed like a big scary monster is cut down to size, and - most of the time - you realize it's more like a monkey rattling a tin can; Not very deep. And so, in regards to the original piece...
You gain control of your thoughts by letting go of them
...a client recently shared this beautiful track with me. On the track, Alan Watts says:
You will go on thinking That is to say, Talking to yourself inside your head Automatically. But it's important that you don't try to repress those thoughts by forcing them out of your mind, because that will have precisely the same affect as trying to smooth rough water with a flat iron; you're just going to disturb it all the more What you do is this: As you hear sounds coming up in your head - thoughts You simply listen them As part of the general noise going on Just as you would be listening to the sound of my voice, Or just as you would be listening to cars going by Or two birds chattering outside the window

After all, only you can let it in. Noticed the subtle changes in direction of the wind brushing your skin? Slowed down enough to actually start picking up on a foreign language? Observed how sun and cloud sketch moving patterns on mountains in the distance? Listened to the sound of rain on leaves? Listened to the texture of how water and leaf dance?
