What to Do When You Do Not Know the Answer (Video)

I believe having the courage to say "I don't know" is a sign of confidence and security.

People ask me about things all the time that I don't feel I have earned the right to have an opinion about.

For example, because I don't keep up with the news at all whatsoever (I avoid it like the plague), I am not qualified to have an opinion on the majority of current events.

When I get put on the spot when I am being interviewed on someone's show, instead of dancing around the question trying desperately not to sound stupid, I say "I don't know."

When a friend comes to me for advice, and I know I don't have an answer that will help them, I tell them I don't know.

Sometimes, most times, actually, my opinion is grossly uninformed.

What do you do when you don't know the answer? Do you say "I don't know" or do you take a different approach?
