Over time, heroes evolve.
When I was a young boy, I loved baseball, and I wanted to be a baseball player. Derek Jeter, whose career was just taking off, was my hero at that time. I began to own his famous fist pump and turnaround jump throw from the hole in shortstop.
Then, it was Alex Rodriguez with his 54 home runs in 2007. I even copied his high socks.
But my needs evolved, and so did my aspirations. I was in a tough spot, and after reading Awaken the Giant Within by Tony Robbins, he became my hero. At a very young age, I leveraged neuro-linguistic programming to my advantage.
